Forever Paws' Fundraiser: A Night of Legends and Lore in Swansea

Organizers of the Legends and Lore Fantasy Ball on May 2 at the Venus de Milo in Swansea are planning a fun night, and hope to raise money for an important cause.

A Fantasy-Themed Fundraiser With a Purpose

That cause is the Forever Paws Animal Shelter, a no-kill shelter on Lynnwood Street in Fall River. Shelter Director Arianna Silva and Administrative Assistant Chantelle Rogers stopped by Townsquare Sunday to talk about the Fantasy Ball, and why the fundraiser is so important.

"We just finished celebrating our 30th year in operation, and that's fantastic, considering we're a small nonprofit, locally owned, with no corporate ownership," Silva said. "We have contracts with both Fall River and New Bedford, so what that means is every animal picked up by Animal Control officers in those two cities is brought to Forever Paws. It's a lot of work."

How Forever Paws Supports Local Animals

Forever Paws houses dogs, cats, chickens, a parrot, rabbits and more. Some have been neglected, abandoned, abused or simply surrendered by their owners.

What to Expect at the Legends and Lore Fantasy Ball in Swansea

"The Legends and Lore Fantasy Ball is nothing like we've ever done before," Rogers said. "We're trying to bring in a whole new demographic, younger people, people that haven't been to our other fundraisers, and hopefully keep them as a regular donor."

Organizers are inviting guests on May 2 to dress as your favorite book character or hero and enjoy the evening at the Venus de Milo. When asked what will happen at the event, Chantelle Rogers said, "The possibilities are endless."

Legends and Lore Fantasy Ball Ticket Information

Tickets are $95 per person, which covers everything at the event: a four-course dinner, dancing, tarot card readings, a fun photo booth, a costume contest and temporary tattoos. A mesmerizing mermaid from Enchanted Fantasies will greet you at the door. For tickets, visit ForeverPaws.com.
