Three men are facing charges in connection with an armed robbery in Freetown on Saturday.

Lt. Steven Abbott says that at 5 a.m. two masked men entered Junior's Convenience Store at 58 South Main St.

One man, brandishing a knife, walked behind the counter and rifled through the cash register before both men fled the scene.

Descriptions of the suspects were obtained from the clerk and use of the store's video system.

Taunton Police responded to an armed robbery earlier in the day at the Hess Express gas station on Route 44.

A Lakeville Police Officer, who was aware of the robberies, was checking the area at a gas station on Bedford St. when he spotted a car parked behind an abandoned building.

A man matching the description of one of the suspects was observed in the vehicle with a knife and cash.

While that suspect was being detained two other men near the vehicle then fled on foot into a wooded area.

The other two suspects were apprehended and cash recovered following a coordinated search involving Lakeville, Freetown, Raynham, Taunton, Plymouth County Sheriff and State police units

The three suspects, identified as 28-year-old Jose A. Gomes, 20-year-old Erickson N. Gomes, and 30-year-old Amadeu J. Filho were transported to the Taunton Police Department where they were charged with armed robbery while masked.

They were held on bail in the amounts $500,000, $250,000, and $750,000 respectively.

Lt. Abbott says Freetown Police will obtain arrest warrants charging the three with armed robbery while masked.
