Every year they do it and every year the crowd gets bigger and bigger.  To ring in 2014 once again fighting frigid temperatures the beach in Mattapoisett was full of brave individuals who stripped down to their shorts like it was the middle of July and jumped in to the icy water.  Hundreds of on lookers cheered the hundred or so that braved the elements to offset the forgotten costs of cancer care for SouthCoast area families.  "Freezin' for a reason" they call it and it's a great way to show support.  The beach had a huge bonfire that swimmers could warm up next to after the icy plunge, there was a huge tent with refreshments as well. I was happy to cheer the swimmers on as they braved the cold to help the cause.
