YMCA SouthCoast is helping feed SouthCoast families in need with its Walk For Hunger and you're invited to join.

We are all too aware of the need for healthy food for families across the SouthCoast and yet many of us just don't know what we can do to help. YMCA SouthCoast is bringing back its Walk For Hunger on Sunday, May 7, starting at the Apponagansett Park going in a 3-mile loop through beautiful Padanaram Village. The walk will begin at 9 am., rain or shine.

This will be the 55th Walk for Hunger, which means over the years it has generated 62,500 meals throughout Greater New Bedford, equivalent to 750,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables via Sharing The Harvest Community Farm.

Sixty perfect of the funds raised will support the operating expenses necessary to grow the healthiest produce possible. The remaining 40 percent goes toward Project Bread's goal of raising more than $1 million to increase food access for people of all ages in Massachusetts.

Interested people can register for the walk or join an existing team. If you can't make the walk you can still donate.
