Many branches have held Trunk or Treat events in the past, but so far this year, only two locations have confirmed that these events will occur in 2020.

The first Trunk or Treat event will be with Stoico/FIRSTFED YMCA in Swansea on Thursday, October 29 from 5 to 8 pm. The branch will follow the local Board of Health guidelines and children are encouraged to dress up. They can trick-or-treat in the parking lot located at 271 Sharps Lot Road in Swansea, visiting various volunteer cars. Candy will be handed out in a safe, sanitary format.

Pre-registration is required to attend. You can reserve a spot by calling the YMCA at (508) 678-9622. “Please arrive during your designated hour (not before). A Y volunteer will direct check you in from your vehicle and direct you where to park. This event is FREE for active YMCA Southcoast Family, One-Parent Family, and Youth members. There is a $5 per child fee for non-members. Each time slot has a hard limit to the number of children who can participate. Space is limited.”

The second Trunk or treat event will be with Gleason Family YMCA in Wareham on Saturday, October 31 from 2 to 4 pm. Admission is free, but pre-registration for a specific time slot is required to maintain social distancing and follow gathering guidelines. Instead of having to purchase a ticket, families are asked to make a non-perishable food donation to the Thanksgiving program.

Gleason is also looking for individuals and businesses who would like to participate in this year’s event by decorating their vehicle and passing out candy. “Decorate your car in a scary, silly, or funny manner or pick a theme for an evening full of TRUNK ‘N TREATING outside the gym in the parking lot. Vehicle registration required - available online, in-house, or by email. Contact Cathy Longfield at 508.295.9622 x15 or clongfield@ymcasc.org to reserve your parking space.”
