Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren didn't mince her words when asked to comment on the resignation of fellow Democrat, California Rep. Eric Swalwell, saying she is "glad that he'll be gone."

What Are the Allegations Against Swalwell?

Swalwell dropped out of the race for Governor of California and then quit his day job in Congress following allegations from several women that he sexually abused them. One woman claims Swalwell "raped" her after allegedly drugging her drink.

While Swalwell is fighting back against some of the accusations, he has apologized to his family and staff.

Investigations into the allegations are underway in New York and Los Angeles.

Elizabeth Warren’s Response to the Resignation

Speaking to Chattanooga, Tennessee's Local 3 News, Warren said, "It's good to see a little accountability."

"People who are in positions of power and authority over others need to be held accountable when they take advantage of that position," she said. "What surprises me is how these guys keep doing this over and over."

She added, "He's not the first, and he probably won't be the last."

Warren and Swalwell faced off for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020. Neither candidate established much traction with voters and dropped out of the race.

According to Fox News, Vermont Democratic Senator Peter Welch said, "It was a good decision."

"You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out," he said. "It's terrible, what has been alleged."
