Massachusetts Democrats on White House List of the ‘Unhinged’
The U.S. Department of Justice says there has been a 1,000 percent increase in attacks on ICE officers since January 21, 2025, compared to the same period last year.
The recent shooting attack on an ICE facility in Dallas, scuffles between ICE agents and protestors at an ICE field office outside of Chicago, and riots in Los Angeles and Portland are clear evidence that radical forces, unhappy with the Trump administration's immigration policies, are pushing back violently.
Attorney General Issues Warning
In a memo to federal law enforcement, Attorney General Pam Bondi said, "As President Trump stated, we are witnessing a new era of extreme political violence that 'is a culmination of sophisticated, organized campaigns of targeted intimidation, radicalization, threats, and violence designed to silence opposing speech, limit political activity, change or direct policy outcomes, and prevent the functioning of a democratic society."
Bondi stated, "Enough is enough," adding, "the Department of Justice will stand strong when federal law enforcement officers are attacked or threatened for doing their sworn duty on behalf of the United States government."
A White House statement accused Democrats of an "unhinged crusade against our border enforcement," and names some of the biggest offenders, including several from Massachusetts, and provides examples of some of the rhetoric used against ICE officers.
Controversial Rhetoric From Politicians
The statement quoted Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley, who said ICE is "terrorizing our communities." It links to comments from Massachusetts Rep. Stephen Lynch, who referred to ICE as "the Gestapo" and "nondescript thugs" in a post on X.
The White House pointed to an X post from Sen. Elizabeth Warren, who charged ICE with "targeting community members with no criminal record."
"These violent ICE arrests don't make us safer – they intentionally stoke fear and tear communities apart," Warren posted.
An X post from Boston Mayor Michelle Wu compared ICE agents to the neo-Nazi group NSC-131.
