Massachusetts Senator Warren’s Support for Mamdani Irks Trump
Early voting is underway in New York City, where one of the most closely-watched mayoral contests is playing out in real time. Massachusetts U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren is taking sides.
Most polls indicate that the Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani is on track to defeat independent candidate Andrew Coumo and Republican Curtis Sliwa. Warren is backing Mamdani, who some consider to be, at best, a socialist.
Let's say that President Donald Trump is not waving a Mamdani banner out the window of the "Beast" and is less than impressed with Warren's support for the likely next mayor of the Big Apple.
The New York Post reported in August on Warren's vigorous endorsement of Mamdani. Warren stated that Mamdani's understanding of "how affordability is the central issue" will "touch working families."
Warren said Mamdani understands "the Democratic message" and will deliver on it in "meaningful, tangible ways."

Warren's enthusiasm for Mamdani has caught Trump's attention. After watching Warren's endorsement of Mamdani, Trump referred to Warren as "a nutjob."
"I watched her the other night. She's all hopped up endorsing a communist in New York City, and she was all excited and jumping up and down," he said.
"She's got to take a drug test. She really, though, she's got to take a drug test. There is no way somebody can act that way and be normal," Trump told reporters during an Oval Office appearance.
Trump has threatened to withhold federal funds from New York if Mamdani is elected. NY1 Spectrum News quoted Trump, "I was always very generous with New York, even when you had opposition there."
"I wouldn't be generous with a communist, a guy that's going to take the money and throw it out the window," Trump said.
Election Day in New York City and elsewhere is November 4.
