Massachusetts Democrats Erupt Over Trump’s Iran Threat
If nothing else, the Massachusetts political establishment, in particular the Democrats, are as predictable as the rising sun, death, and taxes in opposing anything Donald J. Trump. Case in point: the Dems, in unison, demanded Trump's head over strong rhetoric 45/47 used in an effort to get Iran to agree to negotiate a peace treaty.
Now granted, Trump's promise that "a whole civilization will die tonight" if whoever is in charge in Iran – for all we know, it could be the Amazon delivery driver – didn't agree to a ceasefire that includes reopening the Strait of Hormuz was over the top, even by Trump's standards. But it worked, at least for now.
Kudos to the Commander-in-Chief, right? Wrong!
Massachusetts Democrats Respond to Trump’s Iran Remarks
Massachusetts U.S. Senator Ed Markey demanded that Trump be removed from office immediately, if not sooner.
Markey Calls for Immediate Action
"With each passing day, it becomes increasingly apparent that Donald Trump is unstable and a clear and present danger, not just to the American people but to the world," Markey said in a statement.
The statement raised the specter of "incalculable and unfathomable harm" if Trump is allowed to remain at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue a moment longer.
Bay State Leaders Join Growing Criticism
Massachusetts Representatives Ayanna Pressley, Bill Keating, and Jim McGovern issued statements of their own demanding Trump's ouster, according to the Boston Herald's Tim Dunn.
Dunn reported Representatives Jake Auchincloss, Richard Neal, Seth Moulton, Katherine Clark, and Lori Trahan joined the "Dump Trump" chorus, and Sen. Elizabeth Warren took to X to demand an end to the war.
Warren Urges Congress to Intervene
"Congress needs to pull the emergency brake now," Warren wrote in a statement on her website. "We should be voting to stop Trump's war today."
As I said, the Massachusetts Democrat contingent is nothing if not predictable.
