
West Wareham Man Charged in Fatal Motorcycle Crash
WAREHAM (WBSM) — A West Wareham man with a history of driving under the influence is under arrest after a 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the Cranberry Highway Friday afternoon.
According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz, Wareham Police received multiple 911 calls at around 5:05 p.m. on July 25 reporting a person injured in a crash involving a car and a motorcycle in the vicinity of 2628 Cranberry Highway.
Crash on Cranberry Highway Kills 25-Year-Old
Wareham police and firefighters responded to the scene and found the motorcycle operator lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Tobey Hospital in Wareham and then transferred to St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, where he passed away from his injuries.
The victim has been identified as Jordan Hansen, 25.
Suspect Located Near Scene, Arrested
Cruz said the driver of the car was located about a quarter-mile from the crash scene. He was identified as Raymond Cardoza, 67, of West Wareham.
Charges Include Manslaughter, OUI Fourth Offense
Cardoza was arrested and is charged with operating under the influence – manslaughter; operating under the influence, fourth offense; leaving the scene of an accident resulting in personal injury or death; and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
He is scheduled to be arraigned in Wareham District Court and is being held on $100,000 cash bail.
Cruz said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
