Cary Elwes Is Bringing ‘The Princess Bride’ to New Bedford’s Zeiterion

Get ready for a night in New Bedford that will truly be inconceivable!

Have fun storming The Zeiterion on Friday, January 29 at 7:30 p.m., when Cary Elwes comes to New Bedford for what is being billed as “An Inconceivable Evening” with a screening of the beloved 1987 film followed by a post-show discussion with the star himself.

The movie turns 40 years old in 2027, and Elwes will celebrate the milestone by sharing his personal accounts of playing the iconic role of Westley and other behind-the-scenes stories.

The Story of The Princess Bride

The tale of farm boy-turned-swashbuckler Westley and his quest to rescue his true love Princess Buttercup was originally a novel by William Goldman, who adapted it into the screenplay for the movie directed by the late Rob Reiner.

The film – which also stars Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin, Wallace Shawn, Andre the Giant, Billy Crystal, Carol Kane and more – was not a box office success when it was released in September 1987, but became a cult classic following its release on home video and decades of airings on cable television.

Movie screenings with star Q&As have become hugely popular in recent years, with Chevy Chase making the rounds with National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Macaulay Culkin taking Home Alone on the road, Richard Dreyfuss showing Jaws, and cast members touring with Stand By Me.

This event also comes on the heels of The Z's Bill Murray Movie Marathon Mondays, which were so successful that even Murray himself made a surprise appearance for a screening of What About Bob?

Ticket Prices and VIP Meet-and-Greet Options

Tickets for "An Inconceivable Evening With Cary Elwes" are listed at $47, $58, $69, and $167. The $167 level includes access to a post-show meet-and-greet with Elwes.

Currently, the event is in presale mode, with Muse Members having access today and Super Fan and Star Members having access Thursday, September 3 at 12 p.m. The public on-sale is Saturday, September 5 at noon.
