A Westport man accused of raping a woman last month at his residence is being held without bail.

The Herald News reports 62-year-old Aaron Groves III was found to be a danger to the community Friday during a hearing in Fall River District Court and his previous bail was revoked.

According to court documents, Groves was was out on $5,000 bail in connection with a 2017 sexual assault case. He is also listed as a level two sex offender.

The rape victim told police she had agreed to Groves' offer to buy her heroin in exchange for sex. But after a consensual event, she declined further advances.

She told police she awoke on the morning of May 31 to Groves raping her and tried unsuccessfully to fight off the attack.

Groves is listed as the owner of Westport Appliance Repair Services on State Road in Westport. He will return to court on June 19.
