WESTPORT (WBSM) — A Fall River man was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday night in Westport.

Westport Crash Victim Identified by D.A.

Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced that John Soares IV, 29, was the victim in the crash.

Late-Night Crash on Main Road in Westport

Westport Police received a 911 call at 11:38 p.m. on April 11 reporting a single motorcycle crash in the area of 178 Main Road. Police and EMS arrived to find a heavily damaged Harley-Davidson motorcycle off the roadway.

Soares was located about 50 feet from the motorcycle, suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Motorcycle Struck Pole and Stone Wall

According to the D.A.’s Office, it appears Soares struck a telephone pole and a stone wall in the area of 178 Main Road, as both appeared to have been impacted by the crash. Scattered debris was also found in the roadway and on the property.

Crash Remains Under Investigation

The crash remains under investigation by Westport Police and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the D.A.’s Office.
