Concord Man Sentenced to State Prison for 2023 Sandwich Restaurant Sexual Assault
BARNSTABLE (WBSM) — A 73-year-old man has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman at a restaurant in Sandwich back in 2023.
Cape & Islands District Attorney Robert J. Galibois announced today that Elie Jammal, 73, of Concord, MA was found guilty by a jury in Barnstable Superior Court for the July 9, 2023 sexual assault of a then-20-year-old victim.
Jammal had been indicted by a Barnstable County Grand Jury in November 2023 on a charge of rape and two counts of indecent assault and battery on a person over age 14.
Details of the 2023 Sandwich Restaurant Assault
On July 9, 2023, the victim was dining at a restaurant in Sandwich and left her table to use the restroom. In the hallway, she encountered Jammal, who she did not know. He commented on how beautiful she was, pushed her up against the wall, sexually assaulted her, and demanded she put her number into his phone.
The victim escaped into the women’s restroom, but Jammal followed her inside and sexually assaulted her again. He then left the restroom, and the victim tried to use her smartwatch to call for help. A family member came into the restroom to check on her because she had been gone for so long, and found her upset and hiding in one of the bathroom stalls.

Family Confrontation and Arrest
The victim’s mother and another family friend confronted Jammal outside the restaurant, and he claimed the victim had come on to him. The police were called, but Jammal drove away before they arrived. He was later located and arrested.
DA Galibois Announces Prison Sentence
“Today, before imposing a sentence, the Court indicated that he found that this matter was not fueled by alcohol consumption by the defendant, but by a shocking sense of entitlement,” the D.A.’s Office said in a press release. “The Judge then issued a sentence of 13 ½ to 15 years in state’s prison on the rape conviction followed by five years’ probation on the indecent assault and battery conviction.”
