In almost the exact same spot as a tragedy that occurred with a Fun 107 radio DJ last year, two separate accidents in a 50-minute stretch occurred at the exact same spot on Route 44 in the area of the Quality Inn in Raynham.

According to The Enterprise, “at 7:57pm a driver struck a pedestrian near the Quality Inn on Route 44 in Raynham, resulting in significant injuries to the pedestrian.” The female pedestrian suffered head trauma and a broken leg.

An investigation into that incident was underway, when a second crash occurred.

Raynham Police Officer Dan Fitch was re-routing traffic around the scene about 100 hundred yards to the west, when the driver of a Nissan Versa ignored police commands to cut through the Pep Boys parking lot, continued eastbound on Route 44 and struck the parked police SUV vehicle in the middle of the road at 8:47pm.

The impact spun the vehicle a full 180 degrees and sent Officer Fitch, who was standing nearby to leap out of the way.

The Versa came to a stop in front of Firestone Tire, near the vehicle who was involved in the first incident was stopped.

Route 44 was shut down to traffic in both directions for a stretch of a few hundred yards Tuesday night until about 10:30pm.

This stretch of road is also known for a tragedy, when Jarod Gagnon, who was a former Fun 107 DJ, passed away in June of 2015 during a road rage incident that took place directly in front of the Quality Inn.
