Two Sisters Bringing Portuguese Takeout to New Dartmouth Spot
Two Portuguese sisters from New Bedford have been working hard for the better part of a decade to find the perfect storefront.
Now at last they've found one -- in Dartmouth.
Caitlyn Fontes thought up the duo's current food truck idea about seven years ago, you could say before food trucks were cool. I'm pretty sure their Portuguese-style food truck was the first of its kind in the area.
Two Sisters, the food truck, grew quickly and the sisters expanded to catering, which many know them for today.
My first thought: How did this small business survive the pandemic? So many small businesses had to close their doors.
"We survived the last few years by doing what we can do only," Caitlyn said. "Not trying to pressure ourselves, and doing takeout, family-style meals really helped us grow our business on the weekends.
Not only did Two Sisters Catering survive the pandemic, but the sisters are excited to announce a storefront location in Dartmouth. The place might look familiar as the building was formerly home to Naughty Dogs.
The Dartmouth Street store will be a takeout concept, functioning as a grab-and-go. You will be able to call ahead or walk in. Don't worry if you don't want to leave your couch. Two Sisters will have a delivery service available.
So, I guess you might be wondering when the restaurant will open. Caitlyn said the business should be up and running by October but can't make any promises. While it is called Two Sisters currently Caitlyn will be running the business herself.
"We are grateful for all the support this entire seven years and we are so happy to be a part of this beautiful community," Caitlyn said.
