If you’ve ever dreamed of facing off against a dessert the size of your head, dream no more. Pine House Kitchen & Bar in Tiverton, Rhode Island just launched the Cookie Monster Challenge, and it’s as wild as it sounds: a massive, two-pound homemade cookie skillet topped with 15 scoops of ice cream.

Owner Jared Machado said the idea is totally unique to Pine House Kitchen and was crafted with sweets lovers in mind.

“It’s one of our staples,” Machado told Fun 107. “We make all our cookies from scratch, and I just wanted to do something a little more outside the box. This one’s more of a Pine House special.”

The Cookie Monster Challenge: How It Works

Here’s how it breaks down:

  • Two people
  • One giant skillet cookie
  • 15 scoops of ice cream
  • 10 minutes
  • Facebook Live filming required

If you and your dessert-loving partner finish it all in time, you’ll each win a $100 cash prize, score a Pine House t-shirt, and earn a permanent spot on the restaurant’s wall of fame. The buy-in is $25 per person, and Jared swears it's doable – delicious, even.

“It’s not supposed to be impossible,” he added. “We want people to actually have fun and finish it.”

Want Something Spicier? Try the Hot Wing Challenge

If dessert’s not your thing, Machado has a Hot Wing Challenge waiting in the wings – literally. Down 50 hot wings solo in 20 minutes and win free wings for a year (a dozen per day, dine-in only), plus your photo on the wall. Buy-in is $50, but if you succeed, it’s waived. You even get to take the leftovers home.

“I didn’t want to make it impossible,” Machado said. “It should be tough, but fun.”

So whether you’ve got a sugar craving or a spicy streak, Pine House Kitchen just served up a fresh reason to head to Tiverton.

The SouthCoast Hot Wing Project

WBSM's Tim Weisberg and his son Adam spent six months touring the SouthCoast area from New Bedford to Fall River to Dartmouth to Norton and beyond, trying some of the supposed hottest wings around – and also gave some other unique wing flavors a shot, too. Sadly, not all of them are still around, but the project lives on in spicy infamy.
