The Racists You Seek Are to Your Left [OPINION]
Upon emerging as a candidate for president in 2015, Donald J. Trump became an overnight racist. Never mind that Trump had previously been hailed as a friend to the black community by such notables as Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Oprah Winfrey and many others.
While Trump has spent the last two and a half years working on behalf of the African-American community by creating jobs, reforming the criminal justice system, battling drug trafficking and more, he continues to be hounded as a racist and a bigot. Why?
But reality bites and for those who want to seriously see racism, all you have to do is look to your left.
The Democrat Governor of Virginia, Ralph Northam, wore blackface in college. So did Virginia's Democrat Attorney General Mark Herring. There has been a chorus of calls for Northam to resign but nothing about Herring. What does this say about the race culture in Virginia?
Virginia's Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax, also a Democrat, stands accused of forcing a black woman to perform oral sex on him during the 2004 Democrat National Convention in Boston. Crickets. What happened to "always believe the woman?"
Didn't the idea of blackface as part of a Halloween costume just get Meghan Kelly fired from NBC? Thought so.
The lack of consistency in what offends us is laughable. The blackface issue and whether it is ever acceptable to wear blackface is a legitimate debate. I suppose we'd need some sort of amnesty, though, since it appears so many of our friends to the left seem to enjoy appropriating the cultures of others. Ask Liz Warren.
There can, however, be no debate over whether allegations of sexual assault should be taken seriously. Why when a white woman claimed she was attacked by a conservative white Supreme Court nominee did our friends on the left insist that all women should be believed, but now that a black woman says she was assaulted by a Democrat Lt. Governor her claim is being all but ignored by the media and the left?
There is your racism. There is your hypocrisy.
