TAUNTON (WBSM) — Two teens were arrested and four firearms seized after Taunton Police executed a search warrant recently.

According to Taunton Police, a lengthy investigation by Detective Brian Dunham led to the execution of a search warrant at a residence at 255 Somerset Avenue on May 13.

Taunton Police detectives and the Southeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (SEMLEC) SWAT Team conducted the search.

What Firearms Were Seized in Taunton?

Police said multiple large-capacity firearms were seized, including:

  • A Glock 9mm semi-automatic handgun loaded with a 17-round magazine and equipped with a flashlight/laser aiming device
  • A Glock .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun loaded with a 30-round extended magazine and equipped with a flashlight/laser aiming device
  • A Palmetto State Armory AR-15 pistol, .556-caliber, loaded with a high-capacity magazine and a "brass catcher" pouch used to collect expelled shell casings
  • A Mossberg .22-caliber long rifle with a defaced serial number and loaded with a high-capacity magazine and affixed with a laser-sighting device

Police Say Guns Were Accessible to Children

Police said the firearms were all improperly stored “and could be accessed by children residing in the home.”

Charges Facing the 17-Year-Old Suspect

A 17-year-old Taunton male was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number, four counts of improper storage of a firearm near a minor; four counts of reckless endangerment of a child; eight counts of possession of a large-capacity firearm; and eight counts of possession of a firearm without an FID card.

Charges Against Jrese Jorge Matchem-Evora

Jrese Jorge Matchem-Evora, 19, of Taunton, was arrested and charged with improper storage of a large-capacity firearm near a minor, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, two counts of possession of a large-capacity firearm; two counts of carrying a firearm without a license; and four counts of reckless endangerment of a child.

Both were expected to be arraigned in Taunton District Court on Wednesday, May 13.
