Taunton Barber Admits to Selling Fentanyl

TAUNTON — A Taunton barber pleaded guilty in federal court on Monday to a variety of charges related to trafficking fentanyl.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said 47-year-old Carlos Rivera of Knockout Barbershop admitted to multiple counts of fentanyl possession and distribution.

Between September 2020 and January 2021, Rivera and a co-conspirator sold fentanyl to a cooperating witness in Taunton four separate times.

The drug deals were conducted from Rivera's home and his barbershop, according to the office.

Knockout Barbershop is located at 65 West Water St. in Taunton.

The co-conspirator was not identified.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, federal agents arrested Rivera outside his apartment in January 2021, and found him to be carrying about 40 grams of fentanyl at the time.

He has been in custody since his arrest and faces at least five years and up to 40 years in prison, with at least four years of supervised release and a maximum $5 million fine.

Sentencing is set for May 23.
