Carl Alves of Positive Action Against Chemical Addiction says the opioid problem has gotten worse but there are more opportunities for treatment available.
At a press conference Wednesday morning, New Bedford officials unveiled a 22-point plan focused on increasing the supply of housing to address the growing cost of housing in the city.
Carl Alves, a member of New Bedford's HOME coalition, said the group is 'exploring new and innovative approaches to housing, as well as promoting new housing opportunities for all residents in the region.'
A new community organization called H.O.M.E. (Housing Options for Momentum and Equity) is enlisting help from area residents to come up with solutions.
New Bedford-based organization Positive Action Against Chemical Addiction, or PAACA, has been helping people with addiction problems for nearly 40 years.
Alves joined Marcus Ferro to discuss the work of PAACA, the challenges presented due to COVID-19, and other community service initiatives of the organization.
