Reverend David Lima, Executive Minister of the Interchurch Council of Greater New Bedford, and Carl Alves, President of PAACA are busy guys, always involved with something.

On Easter Sunday, Rev. Lima led the Sunrise Service at Fort Phoenix in Fairhaven.

On May 1, he and members of the Interchurch Council will join members of Fall River's Polish and Ukrainian communities in a march to show support for Ukraine against the invasion by Russia.

On May 6, both Alves and Rev. Lima will take part in a forum with caregivers, law enforcement and others to map out strategy to deal with the ongoing opioid crisis in Bristol County.

Rev. Lima and Carl Alves joined Townsquare Sunday this week to chat about all of these events.

Lima talked about the importance of Easter to Christians and the return of the Sunrise Service, which was held virtually the past two years because of COVD-19.

Alves and Rev. Lima provided an update on the opioid crisis in New Bedford. Sadly, they say, the number of overdoses are rising again, after a decline last year.

Rev. Lima also outlined the May 1 "Solidarity Walk" in Fall River for Ukraine. He said the Interchurch Council will join United Interfaith Action members, the Greater Fall River Council of Churches, and others in a collaboration to raise money and show support for the people of Ukraine.
