The 26th annual Buzzards Bay Swim on Saturday attracted more than 400 swimmers and kayakers making their way over a 1.2-mile over-the-water course.

Swimmers departed from the former Davy's Locker location in New Bedford's South End, to the Fort Phoenix State Reservation in Fairhaven.

The swim is a signature event for the Buzzards Bay Coalition, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting clean water in communities across the Buzzards Bay region.

In the past 26 years, the event has raised more than a million dollars for clean water programs and research.

This year's swim raised more than $185,000.
