FAIRHAVEN (WBSM) — Two men were arrested on drug and assault charges for an alleged drug transaction in the parking lot of Fairhaven's Seaport Resort & Marina.

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Fairhaven Police said that around 12:30 p.m. on July 16 they observed what they believed was a hand-to-hand drug transaction in the parking lot of the Seaport Resort & Marina on Middle Street in Fairhaven.

Ryan Reynolds, 43, of Acushnet, and James Williams, 40, of Lakeville, were seen in a white Toyota RAV-4. When officers approached the vehicle, Reynolds exited and was apprehended.

According to police, Williams allegedly attempted to flee from the scene in the vehicle and drove aggressively towards an officer.

He continued to speed into the rear section of the Middle Street parking lot, where he was apprehended shortly after

Police said officers seized over 28 grams of cocaine, more than 15 grams of fentanyl, and over $900 in cash.

Williams faces charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Reynolds was charged with trafficking cocaine, trafficking fentanyl and the distribution of a Class A substance (fentanyl).

Both men were arraigned in New Bedford District Court Tuesday morning.
