SWANSEA — A 33-year-old man hit by a car in Swansea over the holiday weekend was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, according to a release from Swansea Police Chief Marc Haslam and Fire Chief Eric Hajder.

Officials said police and fire crews responded to a report of a pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle on Route 6 at I-195 at around 7:50 p.m. on Sunday.

Emergency crews responded to find a 33-year-old man suffering from serious injuries in the road.

Crews provided immediate medical aid at the scene before the man was taken by ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment, according to the release.

The injured man's name has not been disclosed, and his current condition is unknown.

An investigation by the Swansea Police Accident Reconstruction Team is ongoing.
