The heavy snow and ice of the past two weeks is causing problems with roofs across the tri-state region.   Most collapses have occurred in New Jersey, although there have been collapses in parts of New York.

Three people suffered minor injuries in the collapse of the roof of a Verizon building in Jersey City, and ten families were left homeless when the roof of their apartment building in Kearny, New Jersey caved-in.

Flat roofs with poor drainage seem to be particularly vulnerable to collapse under the weight of the snow and ice.  (Metro Networks Inc.)
