Meet the NJ Dem Who Voted with the GOP on Impeachment [OPINION]
There are almost no Congressional Republicans elected in the northeastern states these days. But there is a Democrat who is asking questions about impeachment.
The hatred for President Donald J. Trump has almost reached the level of hatred the left wing of the Democratic Party had for President Ronald Reagan.
The Democrats hated President Reagan more than President Trump. But they were smarter back then and so they didn't get sucked into the impeachment vortex as they have now.
New Jersey Democrat Jeff Van Drew is bucking his party on this vote to impeach President Trump. The first-term Democrat isn't buying into the left-wing scheme to overthrow the executive branch. He understands the costs of focusing on impeachment rather than the reasons he was elected to Congress.
Before being elected to Congress, he was Dr. Jeff Van Drew, a dentist for 30 years. He was also a New Jersey State Senator, a husband, a father, and a grandfather.
Rep. Jeff Van Drew explained to the Philidelphia Inquirer: "We are going to have the same president, and we’re going to have the same presidential candidate who will be able to say that he was exonerated, so I don’t know how much we really gained from that. And at the same time, we’re going to be so focused on these issues, we’re not going to have the focus on the issues we all care about so much like health care, like prescription drugs, like infrastructure like veterans' concerns and doing more for the veterans.”
If a freshman Democrat from New Jersey can oppose Speaker Nancy Pelosi, how many other Democrats will soon abandon this doomed train to the political graveyard?
