There isn't much our quirky United States Senator Elizabeth Warren can say that surprises me. All you have to do is monitor which way the wind is blowing, and there stands Warren.

Sometimes, though, even someone as predictable as Democrat demagogue Liz Warren can throw you a curveball, like when she recently endorsed the idea of government-run grocery stores; you know, like the ones in Communist and Socialist countries.

How many of you remember the government-run grocery stores in the Soviet Union? Point of reference: think of what supermarket shelves looked like during the pandemic, when things were in short supply.

What Are Government-Run Grocery Stores?

Warren didn't just come up with the idea of government-run grocery stores on her own. She is not best known for her originality. Warren endorsed the idea that someone else floated.

Warren Endorses Mamdani’s NYC Proposal

Government-run grocery stores are the idea of Zohran Kwame Mamdani, the Democratic nominee for Mayor of New York City. Mamdani, a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, wants to open five publicly-owned grocery stores in New York City.

The Week reported the government-run stores would "provide low-cost food to underserved New Yorkers."

Support and Criticism of the Plan

Mamdani's idea, praised by CNN, NPR, the New York Times, the Progressive and other left-leaning media, received a full-throated endorsement from Warren.

Warren told a recent edition of CNN's Squawk Box that Mamdani's government-run grocery store idea is "a new and fresh plan for New York City. But it has been tried in other cities around the country and has had some real successes."

A Patriots One News Facebook response to Warren states "Fact Check: Things that never happened for 500, Alex."

Warren, who compares the concept to commissaries on U.S. military bases, said there are "food deserts" in New York, where "people can't get access to grocery stores."

Perhaps Sen. Warren could find low-cost ingredients for her Pow Wow Chow recipes at the government-run markets, as well as food for her trusted dog Bailey.
