WAREHAM - Wareham Police arrest a woman for shoplifting, only to find out she has a number of warrants.

Wareham Police were called to the Family Dollar store in Wareham around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night for a report of a female shoplifter. Witnesses say the woman had left the store with about $70 in merchandise stuffed into a backpack but may still be in the area.

Police soon found the woman, Jayne Decoste, 55, of Westfield, and recovered the stolen items in her backpack.

Police arrested Decoste and found she had nine outstanding warrants for her arrest issued by district courts in Holyoke, Brookline, Springfield, Westfield, Quincy, and Hingham. All of the warrants stemmed from shoplifting incidents.

Decoste is being arraigned in Wareham District Court on the charge of shoplifting, 10th subsequent offense.
