The controversy over the Board of Health Election in Fairhaven may soon be resolved.

Secretary of State William Galvin says his office has begun an investigation into the April 1st Election in Fairhaven. 

Challenger John Wethington won by three votes on election night, and was sworn in by Town Clerk Eileen Lowney. 

But following two unofficial recounts, incumbant Peter De Terra was declared the winner by two voters.  De Terra has since filed for a recount. 

Secretary Galvin tells WBSM News, he decided to investigate the election after being contacted by candidates, their attornies and town officials....

Galvin says his Elections Division will conduct the investigation.  He expects the probe to be completed very soon and his office will take formal action if necessary.
