The search continues for a motorcyclist believed to have fallen off the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Fall River early Sunday.

Police believe that at 12:30 a.m., a 2020 Kawasaki Z125 Pro motorcycle crashed on the bridge and that the rider went over the railing into the Taunton River. The driver is believed to be a 35-year-old Fall River man, Massachusetts State Police said. Police early Sunday found the crashed bike and a shoe on a ramp to the bridge.

On Monday for the second day in a row, an underwater dive team was searching the Taunton River as it flows south between Fall River and Somerset across the Rhode Island line into Mount Hope Bay, state police spokesman Dave Procopio told The Herald News. Members of the dive team on Sunday found articles of clothing but did not recover the missing man.

On Sunday the U.S. Coast Guard conducted a search for the man and but suspended their efforts late in the day. The search resumed Monday morning as a recovery effort. The dive team is using sonar to search for the man, Procopio said.
