A Rockland man has been sentenced to life in prison for fatally stabbing his wife, then watching her suffer as she lay wounded in their driveway while neighbors tried to help her.

Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz says Richard Langley was sentenced Thursday in Brockton Superior Court after unexpectedly pleading guilty to first-degree murder.

Rockland police responded to Langley's home in June 2014 after receiving a 911 call. Authorities said officers found 52-year-old Patricia Langley lying in her driveway with six stab wounds and being helped by neighbors as Richard Langley watched from his porch.

A police report said Richard Langley told officers he stabbed his wife because he believed she was having an affair. Police said Langley told his wife repeatedly to die as they led him away.  (Associated Press)
