The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting an earthquake took place early Wednesday morning in Rhode Island.

The 2.3 magnitude earthquake struck at 3:43 a.m. and was reported with the greatest intensity near Cranston, R.I.

Activity was also reported by residents in Fall River, Somerset, and Assonet.

At this time there are no reports of damage or injury.
