A 34-year-old Rehoboth man has pleaded not guilty to charges that he enticed and sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy.

Daniel Ferreira was arraigned Friday in Taunton District Court on charges including rape of a child under 16. A judge set $50,000 cash bail and ordered Ferreira to avoid the alleged victim and undergo GPS monitoring if he's released.

The Sun Chronicle reports Ferreira's lawyer Colleen Tynan said he denies using force in what he says was a consensual encounter with someone he believed was 16.

The Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School student told police he was walking Wednesday night when he was approached by a man in a car, lured into the woods to smoke marijuana and assaulted.

Prosecutor Jeffrey Daley said Ferreira is a registered sex offender after sex crime convictions in 1999 and 2004.
