Raynham Police Investigating Incident Outside Elementary School
RAYNHAM — Raynham police are investigating a disturbance that took place outside Merrill Elementary School on Wednesday afternoon that was allegedly filmed and posted on YouTube and other social media.
Police wrote in a release on Thursday that the incident — which they described as an altercation — occurred at around 1 p.m. Wednesday outside the Pleasant Street school.
No students or staff were involved or present when the incident took place, and no threat was made to the school, police said.
Police responded to a call reporting a disturbance outside the school and arrived to find a 38-year-old man walking away from school grounds.
Officers along with the School Resource Officer spoke with the man, who had allegedly been involved in an altercation just minutes before police arrived.
Police spoke with witnesses and searched the area for any other people involved in the incident, but were unable to find anyone else, according to the release.
The man was issued a no trespass order due to the incident and must stay off school grounds.
Investigators were also made aware of a YouTube video that allegedly shows part of the interaction between three people outside the school, during which allegations are made that one man may be a child predator.
Police said they are actively investigating the contents of the video and the incident.
