RAYNHAM (WBSM) — A man was killed in a single-car crash in Raynham Sunday evening.

According to Raynham Police Chief David LaPlante and Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita, their departments responded at about 8:12 p.m. on August 24 to a 911 call reporting a driver operating erratically in the area of South West Street.

Shortly after, they received reports that a vehicle had struck a tree on the street.

The driver of the vehicle, a 31-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His only passenger, a 33-year-old woman, was taken to an area hospital. Authorities said her injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

Their identities were not released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Raynham Police, the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
