DA Quinn Slams Judge Over Release of Taunton Stabbing Suspect
TAUNTON (WBSM) — Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III is calling out a judge for releasing a man charged with assaulting the mother of his child while he was already out on bail for another case.
“This is yet another example of the court releasing a dangerous defendant for no rational reason,” Quinn said.
The defendant, Justin Brown-Madison, was released on bail following a dangerousness hearing in Taunton District Court on March 30 before Judge Sarah Jubinville. Brown-Madison was arraigned on charges of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, as well as domestic assault and battery, stemming from a March 10 incident in Taunton.
Details of the Taunton Assault Case
The victim alleged that Brown-Madison, the father of her child, became angry with her and grabbed her by the back of her hair and stabbed her in the hand. Police observed a wound to her hand and found a broken knife on the landing to the second floor, and the knife blade in the driveway.
At the time of the incident, Brown-Madison had an open Plymouth County Superior Court case where he was charged with firearms and drug trafficking offenses.

Court Decision on Bail
The Commonwealth requested a dangerousness hearing, arguing he should be held without bail. The Commonwealth also requested Brown-Madison’s bail be revoked on the open Plymouth County Superior Court case. Both requests were denied, and Brown-Madison’s bail was set at $2,500 along with a curfew and conditions that he must stay away and have no contact with the victim.
DA Quinn’s Response to the Ruling
"The defendant was already out on bail on a very serious case in Plymouth Superior Court and has a terrible record. He is charged with stabbing a woman in Taunton, yet is released on that case,” Quinn said “This is an abuse of discretion by the court, which endangers the public and or victims.”
“This highlights why the public continues to lack confidence in the justice system, because some judges continue to release dangerous criminals back on the street with no accountability," he said.
