Westport Police say a Crane Avenue resident stole his neighbors' cars and then sold them for scrap.

According to the Standard Times, 28-year-old Nathan Moniz was arrested Monday after police were able to track down two of the three stolen vehicles at a Tiverton auto parts yard. The owner of the business says he paid Moniz $600 for a 2000 Chevrolet S10 Blazer and a 1993 Chevrolet Lumina.

Police have been unable to locate the third vehicle, a 1999 Ford Econoline van. The vehicles were reported stolen from different Crane Avenue residences.

Police say Moniz was able to trick towing companies into thinking he owned the vehicles, having them hauled to scrapyards and then selling them.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of the van, they can call Westport Police at 508-636-1122.
