Narcotics detectives in New Bedford find guns, drugs and ammunition in an apartment Wednesday night on Shaw Street.

Members of the Organized Crime and Intelligence Bureau carried out a search warrent after an investigation showing heroin being sold out of the apartment.

Police arrested the occupant, 37 year old Oscar Zapata, and charged him with drug and firearms violations.

Det. Captain Steve Vicente says police recovered a sawed off, 20 gauge shotgun, 25 shotgun shells, and 100 rounds of 38-caliber ammunition.  A small amount of heroin, packaging materials and nearly $1,700 in cash were also seized.

Police say Zapata does not have a license for the shotgun.
