New Bedford narcotics detectives carried out a search warrant Thursday at 48 Malden Street, arresting a local man and recovering drugs, cash, and a variety of drug paraphernalia.

According to a press release from New Bedford Police Lt. Scott Carola, 30-year old Jesus Santiago was the target of the investigation.

Santiago was arrested and charged with trafficking 18 grams or more of fentanyl and possession to distribute marijuana.

Police say during a search of the apartment, detectives found one plastic bag of fentanyl weighing just under 30 grams, a plastic bag containing marijuana weighing nearly 62 grams, digital scales, a bottle of inositol (believed used as a cutting agent), and $1,583 in cash.

Police say Santiago is known to authorities and the courts.  He has an open drug case in Bristol County Superior Court stemming from an incident in November, 2021.
