A Wareham man is facing charges after he allegedly struck another man with his car while he was intoxicated.

Police Chief Kevin Walsh says that at approximately 4 p.m. Tuesday officers along with EMS personell and crews from the Onset Fire Department were sent to 367 Onset Ave. over reports that a man had been struck by a vehicle while standing in the parking lot.

The victim, identified as a 44-year-old Plymouth man, sustained what appeared to be serious injuries and was transported to a Boston area hospital.

Walsh says a preliminary investigation shows that the driver, identified as 36-year-old Mark Giberson, veered to the right and struck a vehicle before striking the victim who was standing in the illuminated parking lot.

An investigation determined that Giberson was intoxicated and that he was driving with a suspended license.

He was arrested at the scene and Walsh says additional charges are pending.
