One Million Americans To Lose Unemployment Benefits

Unemployment benefits expire for more than a million Americans on Saturday. They'll end for people who have been unemployed for more than half a year. Approximately one-point-three-million Americans will be affected immediately, and more will be affected as time goes on.
The benefits average out to about 300 dollars a week per unemployed worker. Congress is expected to take up a possible three-month extension to the benefits when lawmakers return from their holiday break. Republicans have been insisting on cuts to offset the extension of benefits. (Metro Networks Inc.)
