The Health Director for the City of New Bedford says the City will take legal action against a Tisbury Street property owner, unless he shows a willingness to clean his property.

Dr. Barbara Weis says during her 18-months as Health Director, inspectors have worked continuously with Edward Medeiros to get his property ship-shape. For a time, Weis says the property was in compliance, but that changed in recent months.

She says Medeiros was served three notices over the past six weeks because of debris and waste in the back yard. Weis says New Bedford's Neighborhood Task Force visited the property on Wednesday....

Dr. Weis says her goal is to help Mr. Medeiros bring his property into compliance, but if he refuses to do so, then the City will likely move ahead with court action.
