New Bedford Man Gets Up to 9 Years for Drugs and Gun
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — A New Bedford man will serve up to nine years in prison after he pleaded guilty to drug and gun charges earlier this week.
Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced that Brandon Delgado, 42, pleaded guilty in Fall River Superior Court on October 6 to trafficking in cocaine over 36 grams, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and possession of oxycodone.
He was sentenced to serve six to nine years in state prison. He had been previously convicted in Boston federal court for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, for which he served 57 months.
Repeat Offender Targeted in Drug Investigation
In April 2024, the New Bedford Police Drug Unit concluded an investigation into a cocaine distribution service operating out of 341 North Street, Apartment #1. Delgado was the target of the investigation, and police obtained two search warrants allowing them to search his apartment and his 2020 Chevrolet Silverado.
On April 24, 2024, detectives saw Delgado leave his apartment building and get into the Silverado. He was stopped and taken into custody and brought back to his apartment.
Gun Found Hidden Inside Lawnmower
Delgado’s mother was inside the apartment at the time and told detectives about a trailer in the backyard that belonged to Delgado, and that he had the keys. Police said that in a John Deere riding mower located near the trailer, they found a Titan Tiger .38 special revolver, for which Delgado did not possess a valid FID card.
In his apartment, detectives found a digital scale, plastic baggies and paperwork they said was associated with Delgado.
District Attorney Quinn on the Case Outcome
"The defendant was caught with a large amount of cocaine and an illegal firearm that qualified him as a felon in possession of a gun because of his prior convictions. A significant sentence was warranted," D.A. Quinn said.
