
New Bedford Man Charged With Social Security Fraud
BOSTON (WBSM) — A New Bedford man is charged with fraudulently receiving over $90,000 in Social Security disability benefits over a period of 10 years.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Anthony Patterson, 62, was charged today in federal court in Boston with one count of theft of government money.
He is expected to appear in federal court later today to answer to the charges.

It is alleged that Patterson stole approximately $92,582 in Social Security disability benefits between May 2013 and May 2023.
If convicted, Patterson faces up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000 or twice the gross gain or loss.
