Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Arrest in New Bedford
Members of New Bedford's Gang Unit stopped a vehicle in the South End Monday night and arrested the operator on motor vehicle and drug charges.
According to reports, police spotted 37-year-old Erick Gonzalez operating a gray vehicle on Grinnell Street just after 7 p.m.
They checked on the status of his license through the RMV and learned it was suspended.
Police then stopped the vehicle and when Gonzalez was getting out of the car, officers observed a small bag of white powder, thought to be cocaine, on the front seat.
Gonzalez was placed under arrest and charged with possession of a Class B substance, and driving with a suspended license.
