New Bedford Sees Three More Shots Fired Incidents Overnight
NEW BEDFORD — Three more shots fired incidents have been reported in New Bedford on Thursday night, as a recent wave of gun violence in the city continues.
New Bedford Police Lt. Scott Carola confirmed that officers responded to three separate calls for shots fired in the area of Pleasant and Grinnell streets starting at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
No injuries were reported in the incidents, although a home in the area sustained some property damage, Carola said.

Another round of gunshots was reported in the same area shortly before midnight, and the third took place at around 1 a.m. Friday morning.
The shooting incidents come amid a spate of gun crimes this spring, with several shootings reported in the greater New Bedford area earlier this month.
Police have also reported nine illegal guns being taken off the streets in just 10 days.
Carola said that detectives are investigating the Thursday night incidents.
City Council President Ian Abreu told WBSM'S Tim Weisberg on air Friday that the recent spate of incidents is "not acceptable," adding that the community won't tolerate gun violence.
"Something's gotta happen here. These shootings are coming too fast and furious," he said. "They're happening in densely populated neighborhoods, where families are living."
"We can't have this anymore," Abreu added. "We're not gonna let that happen here in our community."
