Middleboro Dairy Queen Has to Remind Customers ‘Please Be Courteous’
Whenever I see a sign that is out of the ordinary, I always think the same thing: there has got to be an entertaining story behind it. That's certainly the case at the Middleboro Dairy Queen.
I think back to a road trip I took to Pennsylvania. Coincidentally, the trip was six years ago to the day. We were on the super long drive with two impatient kids in the car. We pulled over in Connecticut to grab some lunch at a Wendy's. When we went inside, we were greeted by a type of a sign I had never seen before, and have never seen since. The sign implored the customers to keep their conversations "G-rated."
How bizarre, right? You can't help but wonder what incident sparked the owner to drop what he was doing, call the sign company to have this sign created and hung up in his lobby. What were these people possibly talking about?
Our family saw a sign in Middleboro last night that had us wondering the same thing. If you've never been to the Dairy Queen on East Grove Street, it can get pretty busy this time of year. The drive-thru is busy enough to have a double line of cars that merge into one as they get closer to the order speaker.
The cars slowly advance through the line and then merge. It seems like a pretty straight forward task, but apparently, not so much at this DQ. Some of the ice cream shop's customers seem to be having a tough time with the concept.
I feel bad that the Middleboro Dairy Queen owner was forced to get this sign made up. How sad is that? The general public is so pre-occupied with getting their ice cream they have to be reminded about taking turns, something that we should have all learned in September of our kindergarten year.
For the record, we've never had a problem with this at DQ, but again, there must be an entertaining back story that pushed the owner to get the sign made.
