Maury Povich Launches Clothing Firm In New Bedford

A popular reality TV talk show host is now part of New Bedford's business community.

Maury Povich has launched a new clothing company in New Bedford. Its called Mother Freedom, which manufacturers outerwear at a factory on Belleville Avenue. The firm employs about 20 people.  The story was first reported this week in the Boston Globe.

Mother Freedom is launching its first full collection this month. Names of the clothing items are chosen for their ties to New England, like the Melville Blazer and the Hathaway Trucker Vest.

Povich currently hosts "Maury," the number one syndicated talk show in the nation, according to Nielsen data provided by NBCUniversal.
