
New Bedford Pedestrian Hit by Car in Critical Condition
NEW BEDFORD — A man who was hit by a car while walking in New Bedford's North End on Tuesday night is in the hospital in critical condition, police said.
According to a police department spokesperson, the man was apparently crossing the street near Belleville Avenue and Nash Road at around 6 p.m. when he was struck by a car.
The victim is currently in the intensive care unit in critical condition, the spokesperson said.

According to scanner chatter, he suffered a serious head injury in the crash.
Police closed the area to traffic for several hours while investigating the scene.
No charges or arrests have been made at this time, the spokesperson noted.
The crash remains under investigation.
